Twickenham Station
Twickenham redevelopment project is being delivered by Solum, a partnership between Network Rail and Kier Property, with contractor Osborne delivering the building works. The new station features a host of benefits including a significantly larger ticket office and lifts to the platforms. The redevelopment provides a brand-new gateway to the area, delivering 115 new homes and transforming the surrounding space with a new public plaza, shops, additional cycle parking, and a new pedestrian walk way along the River Crane.
The new station is built on a
podium over the main rail lines that enables a new public plaza to be created
at the entrance to the relocated ticket office, which provides direct access to
the platforms via steps and lifts. Retail units are provided around the hard-landscaped
open plaza to create a sense of arrival. Station car parking and a new taxi pickup
and drop-off facility are provided below the podium.
My involvement in the project included the following:
- Preparation of Ground Movement Analysis and the impact assessment of the Network Rail assets (London Road bridge and NR Tracks)
- Design of a new UTX (under track crossing) to allow cable diversion
- Checking the temporary security hoarding
- Condition survey of the London Road Overbridge during a Full T3 Possession
- Category II independent check of the building superstructure.
