BIOGRAPHY
Lazaros was born in Ptolemaida Greece in 1981.
As a teenager, he participated in Athletics and in 1997, at the U-17 National Championship , was a member of the local athletics team from his hometown Ptolemaida and won the gold medal in the 4x400m relay. In combination with his final year grades at the national examinations, he qualified to enter the Polytechnic School at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.
In 1999, Lazaros moved permanently to Thessaloniki and enrolled to study Civil Engineering, while he continued training and competing as an athlete. He graduated in 2005 and obtained his Engineering Degree by submitting his Dissertation on Soil Nailing. In 2006, he moved to Manchester, UK for postgraduate studies. He studied Construction Project Management at the University of Manchester (ex UMIST) , and specialised in Scheduling Construction Projects under Uncertainty. He graduated in 2007 with Merit.
Straight after his studies, Lazaros moved permanently to London and started his professional career working for Atkins in the Railway Division. In October 2009, he registered with the National Chamber of Greece as a Professional Engineer and a year later as a European Engineer (FEANI).
In March 2013, following the successful completion of the ICE (Institution of Civil Engineers) Graduate Training Scheme sponsored by Atkins, he achieved Chartership Status and registered with the Engineering Council. At the same time, he was promoted to Senior Engineer (Atkins Rail Premises Team).
In September 2014, Lazaros joined Waterman Group as Senior Engineer and was promoted to Principal level at the end of 2016.
In October 2017 he passed the 7-hours IStructE exam and become Member of the Institution of Structural Engineering and he subsequently promoted to Associate Director of the London WIE Civil / Structural Engineering Team.
In July 2019, Lazaros has taken and passed the Project Management Institute exam and obtained the PMP® (Professional Project Manager) title.
In 2021 promoted to Senior Associate in Waterman being responsible for leading the civils/structures discipline of various private and public sector infrastructure projects.
Lazaros is a keen problem solver with very good understanding of the construction industry's needs and requirements. He is passionate about continuous improvement and has a focused business mind able to generate win-win situations for the Client, the Contractor and the various Stakeholders in order to deliver a successful project.
The combination of technical and managerial skills gained throughout the years and his involvement in all possible stages of a construction project have equipped him with the ability to deliver projects on time and within budget.
